USS Midway and Afghani food

......................................................................................................................................................................

There have been so many things to take care of that yesterday was our first day of sightseeing. The first stop was an enormous American ship that served in WWII. It had a crew of 4,500 men! It was really interesting and fun to walk around inside.

Next, we had some drive around sightseeing to see the baseball-arena PETCO and we also stopped shortly in Balboa Park to see some arts and crafts made in San Diego. Karen, my American family’s mother, told me they have international houses in the park and that the House of Norway was holding a memorial for Utøya next week. We are definitely going there.

It was time for dinner and they asked us: “Would you like Afghani or Ethiopian food?” WOW, what an international city and open-minded family.  We decided to go for the Afghani food and I liked it a lot. It reminded me a little bit of Indian food. We had nan-bread, although the texture was different from Indian, and I had a dish with Masala sauce, which I have tried in Indian restaurants before.

We went back to the house and got some cupcakes for dessert and a brief re-cap of our first baseball lesson a couple of days ago and the last minutes of the San Diego Padres vs. Colorado game.

Never a dull moment in sunny California :D
