Food Wars: Norway vs. USA

...........................................................................................................................................................................

I have been saying many bad things about the food in USA the years after I lived in Orlando. The thing is however, that if you really want to, you can seek out the healthy choices. Only one problem is time.. You have enormous food stores, and maybe 50 types of cereal, takes a long time to compare the calories, sugar content and fat content on every package. No need to say that it takes a while when you go grocery shopping here.

There are a lot of hidden "dangers" in American food. For example, in Norway, when I buy a yogurt I don't really think a lot about it. Here, I need to look closely at the different kinds because some of them contain so much sugar that it is almost like a dessert and definitely NOT breakfast.

What is fun though, is that you can make tasty treats that are a little bit more healthy because of all the different choices. My friend taught me a simple recipe for Oreo-cake with walnuts, caramel sauce, ice-cream and Oreos (of course). Here, in USA you can get reduced fat and no sugar-added ingredients!

Also, you have MANY choices in low-calorie beer. For example, I really like this beer that is only 55 calories pr bottle. (A glass of wine is 80-100 calories)

Any "healthy choice" you recommend?
